The Second Conference of the Democratic Solidarity Party of Al-Ahwaz(DSPA) was a Great Success

The second DSPA congress, which was held in London from 17-18 August 2007 - was successful concluded. The party again insisted on its peaceful, moderate and democratic manifesto and rational political programmes.

The Party condemned the recent suppression, arrests and execution of a large number of Ahwazis by the Iranian government. During the congress numerous display of human rights abuses were reviewed and the attendees requested that the Iranian government stop such acts of repression and persecution of indigenous Ahwazi-Arabs

Various delegation representing political parties and organizations as well as prominent individual scholars and politicians from Europe and the Middle East, who attended the conference, read messages of solidarity, expressed support for the party and the Ahwazi Movement and shared concerns for Ahwazi Arabs persecution.

The Party re-emphasised the importance of the congress of nationalities for a federal Iran (CNFI). Also the party explained the connection between the self-determination right and the Federal system in Iran and said these two are not contradicting each other, but in today’s world, they complement each other.

During conference various studies were read and distributed about the situation of Ahwaz and the suffering of other unrepresented nations like Bloch, Kurds, Azari, Turkmen which together with Ahwazi, holding more than half of Iran’s population.

The Party came together once again to show that the Ahwazi movement is peaceful, visible, wise and democratic. Ahwazi had sent massage of peace and love to the world through the conference and asked the world to stands by them in this hard situation.

The rate of involving of members and freedom of speech was highly significant; that the independent observers said this was a very rare event in Middle East politics, especially between Iranian opposition.
